Points to note:
Application for Driving Test Appointment
- Eligible candidates can apply for a driving test with an end-of-list appointment
- Repeaters who have registered for the balloting must first cancel their registration before they can apply for an end-of-list driving test appointment.
- Eligible candidates who failed their road test can register for the balloting for a repeater early test appointment after 4 working days from the date of their last road test.
- A road test repeater who has already purchased a test form is not eligible to apply for a repeater early test appointment.
- An applicant who holds a full driving licence which has expired over 3 years is not eligible to apply for a repeater early test appointment.
- Repeaters can register for the balloting for the failed test part of the vehicle class in respect of which they are eligible to apply for repeater early test appointment from 11:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. on Mondays to Fridays, except public holidays.
- Candidates who have completed their ballot registration may enquire about or cancel their registration between 9:00 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. daily.
- Ballot winners can apply for resending the ballot PIN by using a valid personal digital certificate issued by recognized Certification Authorities / a "iAM Smart" account with digital signing function (i.e. "iAM Smart+") before 5:00 p.m. on the date he/she has won the ballot. The ballot PIN can be resent to the registered mobile phone number or email account, or to a new contact mean provided by the applicant.
- Vehicle type and test region cannot be changed upon registration. To make changes, candidates can withdraw the registration and register for balloting again on the next working date if necessary.
- Balloting will be held on working days (i.e. Mondays to Fridays), except public holidays. Ballot results will be announced on the TD’s website at 9:00 a.m. on the balloting date. Candidates can enquire about the ballot result with their ballot reference number.
- Candidates who have won a ballot are required to login to the Online System by their ballot Personal Identification Number (“PIN”) to complete selection of a test slot from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the date they have won the ballot.
- Candidates who have won the ballot but have not settled the payment can cancel the reserved repeater early test appointment with the ballot PIN via the function of “Enquiry of Reserved / Confirmed Driving Test Appointment” before 5:00 p.m. on the date he / she has won the ballot. All cancelled repeater early test appointment reservations cannot be reinstated, and by cancelling the reservation, the candidate is deemed to have given up the application.
- Eligible candidates can apply for Postponement / Temporary Cancellation of Driving Test / Change in Test Region at least 7 clear days before the test (the day of the scheduled test and the day when the application is received are excluded).
- This service is not applicable to candidates who would like to apply for postponement due to absence from the driving test on medical grounds or other uncontrollable factors.
- Candidates cannot apply for Postponement / Temporary Cancellation of Driving Test / Change in Test Region for the repeater early test appointment.
- Once the application is accepted, the original test appointment will be cancelled. Candidates who have successfully applied for postponement/ Change in Test region will be allotted an end-of-list test appointment at the prevailing time when processing the application. Request for selection of a test date will NOT be acceded to under any circumstances.
- Candidates who have successfully applied for temporary cancellation of driving test should apply for
re-scheduling the test via the online system or at the Driving Test Appointment Office at an appropriate time. The new test appointment will be on the end-of-list test appointment date at the prevailing time when processing the application. Request for selection of test date will NOT be acceded to under any circumstances. - If a candidate's test form will expire on the newly scheduled driving test date, the candidate is required to purchase a new test form to proceed the relevant application.
- There is a limit on the number of applications for Postponement / Temporary Cancellation of Driving Test / Change in Test Region submitted via the online system. For the same test form and same test type, a candidate can submit a maximum of TWO online applications (application for Temporary Cancellation of Driving Test and Rescheduling of a New Test Appointment is counted as one application). If a candidate exceeds the application limit, they may submit the application with relevant documents in person, by post, via the drop-in-box, or by an authorised agent to the Driving Test Appointment Office as necessary.
- Applicants who successfully reserved a driving test appointment online / by telephone can check their reservation details / cancel their reserved test appointment / make payment.
- Candidates can enquire his / her repeater early test appointment(s) details (including cancelled reservation) if the relevant test date falls on or after the enquiry date.
- Candidates are required to possess a valid personal digital certificate / "iAM Smart+" account for payment of test form fee.
- Candidates aged 70 or above, and disabled candidates who have passed the driving ability assessment or hearing ability assessment and have obtained an approval letter, are required to bring along the required documents to our designated Licensing Offices in person or by agent within a specified period to complete the reservation for a Repeater Early Test Appointment if he/she wins the ballot and reserve a test appointment successfully.
- Only applicants who successfully applied for driving tests / postponement / temporary cancellation of driving tests / change in test region online could check the updated appointment details in this system. Changes in appointment details as a result of applications submitted through other channels will not be reflected in this system.
- Applicants can enquire about the waiting time of driving tests of various vehicle types, test types and test regions.
- Non-designated driving school candidates can check appointment details and download the appointment letter if the test date falls on or after the enquiry date.
- Individuals can enquire the result and download the Certificate of Driving Test Result of the previous driving tests.
